We chose the name CORD Productions because it is the first letter of all our first names.

 

In the case of our movie, we chose to be independent but have our movie distributed by Lionsgate as they have distributed films of the same genre that have been successful in the past.

These are some of the award winning movies Lionsgate have distributed. We believe they would be best suited to distribute our film because they have distributed films of the same genre and they campaigned them very well. We think this would boost the popularity and success of our movie.

Target audience

Audience: The assembled spectators or listeners at a public event such as a play, film, concert, or meeting.
Target Audience: A particular group at which a product such as a film or advertisement is aimed.

In previous blogposts we looked at who our target audience would be, this is what we came up with:

We also believe the USP of our film is the fact that the characters in the movie are similar to the target audience. They are young people in Urban areas.

To demonstrate our target audience for question 4, I made a twitter profile of a fictional character I think fits the description of our demographics above:

Technologies used:

Throughout the production process we used many different technologies in filming and editing. In this question I'm looking at what we used and how we learned to use them, and how helpful they were:

Camera: This piece was critical because we needed it to film. The camera we used was JVC GY-HM100E. It wasn't as simple as point and shoot, we had to make sure we had the right memory cards in and were on filming mode. Once we were used to it it became second nature to use which was good because we were able to focus more on what we were filming.

Lighting: This was one of my favorite pieces of equipment because it made a hug difference when filming. All of our scenes were filmed in the dark as part of our mise-en-scene. This meant we had to use dedo lights to be able to see anything. This was simple to use as well because we had to plug it into batteries and turn it on. However, we had two batteries that had approximately 30 minutes of light each. This meant we had to be careful not to just leave it on when we weren't filming.



Editing: To edit our opening we used an Apple mac and adobe premiere software. This software was good because it wasn't too complicated to use. Once the technicians had explained the basic features we were able to use it and learn more features to edit together our sequence. We put our different scenes together with music and added the writing for the credits.

By using these technologies I learned a lot about production processes of movies. Every piece of equipment is important as they are all used to make the final product. It could be argued the editing and camera work is vital as the scene simply wouldn't exist without it and the dedo light isn't necessary. However, equipment like the lights improves the quality of what you're filming, so I would say they are just as important to create the best film possible.

I have created a poster marketing my film and have also created a Facebook page to promote The Runner

I think what attracted our target audience was the relatable characters and realistic story line. Our film idea has been sadly inspired by what we have heard or seen in reality and our audience can account to this as well. 

We gathered from feedback that our use of sound e.g the gun shots also had a good impact on attracting the audience and intriguing them making them want to watch the full movie.

Putting in title credits 19/01/17

We have decided to put some credits over scenes and some on blank screens. We put our names on blank screens so our names can stand out and we followed the conventions of a title credit order but decided to leave the title at the end.

Behind the scenes 8/01/17

On Sunday 8th January we all went to Brixton to film some block shots and redo some scenes that were too dark, we brought extra lights and an umbrella as it was raining heavily and the equipment would've gotten damaged.
We managed to film two extra scenes however we were having slight difficulties with the camera so there are still a few scenes we have to redo such as the run in scene at the start and film the car scene.
Therefore, on Friday 13th January we will do those scenes ensuring that we bring bright lights as it will be dark.

We have checked the weather forecast to make sure we know how it will be on the day we are filming and if we need to bring an umbrella etc

By looking at this, our filming day is quite good and wont be raining so hopefully there wont be any troubles

Blogging Health Check 2 Feedback

Although my grade isn't what i wanted it to be at, i'm glad to see its improving from my previous grade and hope to get it higher along the course.
I will be posting blogs up to date and completing the ones that have been mentioned and more.

Rough Cut Analysis

In this post I am analysing the first rough cut of our opening.

Pros:

• Camera shots: Some of our shots were static while others moved slightly with the subjects as they were running. I think this is good because its a variation that makes it more interesting to watch.
• Costumes: We had a good use of costumes because our actors had tracksuit clothing on to suit the urban scene we were shooting in. The victim in the scene also had sliders on to show how he was relaxed at home and emphasise how he didn't expect the attack to happen.
• Scene: We shot in an urban area at a quiet time to show how the attack was planned and unexpected to the victim.

Improvements:

• Lighting: Some of the shots were too dark because we only took the light that sits on top of the camera. This affected the outside shots more. When we go back to re-shoot some shots we will take two of the larger lights to make sure the shots are properly lit.
• Range of shots: We had some good different shots but not a wide enough range. We should include more close ups and extreme wide shots to show the setting.

Overall I thought it was good as a first rough cut and it highlighted some improvements we need to make.
