From the analysis I did of the two film openings I found many helpful features I could use in my own film opening. One of them was the range of shots to portray character. This was something they did well in Shaft as they had many shots to show his outfit, and closer shots to show his facial expression.
Another good thing I found in the sequences was the sound. The music fitted well with the scenes in both movies and made them more interesting. This is again something I could use in my film opening as it can create atmosphere and mood effectively through good sound.
