Why is sound important in film?
Sound:
NOUN
- vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear:
In class we looked at sound, and what affect it has to film. We watched the opening to a film called The Taking of Pelham 123 at first with no sound. It was very boring as we could just see things and it was as though they had no meaning. There was also dialogue that we couldn’t hear and that was confusing. However when we watched the clip again it was much more interesting and engaging. Through this activity I found that sound in film is very important. It gives context and effects that may not be possible from what you can just see.
"Sound is 50% of the entertainment in a movie." - George Lucas
